Full Dental Examination, Checkup, Bayonne, Jersey City
During your first visit you will receive a full dental examination, or dental check-up. The first part of this is simply an interview - you will be asked the reason for your visit and a medical history will be taken. First a visual check of your teeth and gums will be done. Many disorders, like oral cancer, can be spotted right away. The dentist will use a probe and a mirror to "poke around" in the patient's mouth. This helps to tell if the tooth is healthy and hard.Dr. Zielinska might also use a special periodontal probe to examine your gums for gingivitis or other gum diseases.
If something catches Dr. Zielinska's attention she might use the intraoral camera to take some close-up digital photos of your oral cavity. This can help identify smaller problems.
As part of the regular full dental examination we take a digital panoramic x-ray. This helps to identtify cavities and the extent of the damage they have done to your teeth.
